Daren Weissfisch is the Music Director of the Lake Union Civic Orchestra in Seattle and Principal Conductor of the Tacoma Opera. He also served as Music Director for the Seattle Opera Creation Lab and is the former Music Director of Orquesta Sinfónica Esperanza Azteca Sinaloa in Mexico. Praised by Lakeside Magazine for his “stirring performances,” Daren has emerged as an eminent figure in the Pacific Northwest's classical music scene.

Guest conducting appearances include performances with the Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra, Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, Octava Chamber Orchestra, University of Washington Symphony Orchestras, and cover conducting roles with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Emerald Ballet Academy, and Harmonia Seattle, among others. Career highlights include recording Antonio Ruíz Pipó's Concierto Tres en Raya with guitarist Jean Bruno Dautaner, conducting the Sinaloa, Mexico premiere of Samuel Zyman’s Horizontes, and collaborating with choreographer Mauricio Nava on Stravinsky’s L’histoire du Soldat.

An accomplished oboist, Daren served as second/assistant principal oboist and guest soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica Sinaloa de las Artes (OSSLA) from 2010-2019, performing oboe concertos by Mozart, Strauss, and J.S. Bach.

Daren enjoys the Pacific Northwest's outdoor activities, such as hiking, camping, and snowboarding. He is an avid scuba diver, and when his back isn’t hurting, he enjoys playing basketball and ultimate frisbee. Daren has a passion for animal rescue, helping dozens of animals find forever homes during his time in Mexico.
